The Joybook 5100, which combines wireless connectivity with the latest audio-visual capabilities, is designed for a new generation of PC users who want to break free from static desktops.

Heavily focused on entertainment applications, the Joybook 5100, which comes with an Intel Centrino Dothan CPU with 2MB L2 Cache memory, will initially be aimed at students, young professionals and people wanting to access the latest AV technology outside the home and office environment.

For people on the move, the Joybook 5100 offers hassle-free connection to the internet through wireless LAN. For gamers and people interested in graphics, the Joybook 5100 has a 32MB ATI Radeon graphics chipset that creates smooth picture movements and crystal clear visuals.

"Today's PC user no longer wants to be tied down by wires, sitting at a desktop workstation or in their bedroom at home," said Robert Dung, managing director, BenQ Middle East. "They demand high quality wireless connectivity, allowing them greater freedom.

"At the same time, they want access to the same applications that the desktop offers. BenQ has unified these two differing demands into one complete package," he added.

In order to maximize functionality, BenQ has included AV multimedia applications inside the Joybook 5100, designed to appeal to entertainment seekers across the Middle East.

As well as a built-in DVD re-writer, users can access software services, allowing them to create and edit video, photographs and music through the Q-Media Bar, an AV integration interface.

The 40GB Joybook 5100 has 512 MB DDR memory and a 15" TFT LCD screen - the world's brightest 200-nit screen panel. The slim line design is framed in a magnesium alloy casing, enhancing its attractive look and feel.

BenQ's latest Joybook offering is firmly inline with its 'digital hub' philosophy which sees digital peripheral devices such as cameras and MP3 players being linked to the notebook in order to expand user enjoyment opportunities.

"The Joybook 5100 raises the bar in combining the latest wireless technology and AV functionality in a notebook platform," said Dung. "It forms a vital part of our digital hub strategy. The wireless connectivity means you can take the hub wherever you go."
