Emaar Properties has appointed KPMG, one of the Big Five global consultancy firms, to work on the structure and strategy for the new bank to be launched later this year.

Emaar has also contracted Landor Associates, one of the leading global corporate identity firms, to work on the bank's branding programme.

A multi-skilled team from KPMG Consulting's UK and Gulf offices are working closely with Emaar's management on this fast-track project. The KPMG team has just completed the design phase of the project and is now progressing rapidly into the implementation phase. Landor's corporate branding process is also moving swiftly ahead.

Mr Ahmed Bin Brek, CEO of the new bank, said: "The Emaar team chose to work with KPMG because it is one of the world's most respected business advisors and technology consultants. Both KPMG and Landor have a reputation for innovation and for delivering projects on time, which were vital considerations for us."

A spokesperson from KPMG Consulting, said: "We are delighted to be working with Emaar's management to create such a visionary bank. There is a huge advantage in working on a project that is not saddled with legacy assets, cultures and systems."

A senior member of the Landor team in Dubai, said: "Creating a corporate brand for such a prestigious project is a challenge, but also a fantastic opportunity to develop a truly powerful new brand that will make a strong impact in the market."

The new bank will offer a range of groundbreaking products and services to both individual consumers and companies and will gradually create and then expand a branch network throughout the UAE. The vision for the bank is to become a catalyst for growth and innovation in the UAE banking industry as well as in the region as a whole.
