Staff motivation is driven by open company culture
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, August 25 - 2004 at 11:01
- PRESS RELEASE
Internal motivation, the key to success in business, can be driven by changes in an organisation's hierarchy, according to Sara Haboubi, a trainer in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP).
"The first step in motivating your teams is for companies to create a new culture. Secrecy, hierarchy and censorship must be replaced with openness, support and honesty.
"A change in culture takes time, which is an excuse many people use in order to avoid change; but the outcome means less management time will be required in the future and results will show in greater performance levels across the organisation."
Haboubi states that this open and honest culture is needed to promote effective communication within a company.
"All team members are different and will have a different set of motivating factors that are unique and should be respected. After that it is vital to improve communication skills. This includes listening skills, non-verbal communication and questioning techniques that enable managers to be coaches rather than dictators."
NLP is the science of how the brain encodes learning and experience through the senses, and it explains the relationship between experience and behaviour, empowering people with effective listening skills. To date, NLP has been judged the most effective set of tools for communication and change - whether personally or professionally.
Haboubi will be hosting NLP training programmes in Dubai in September, in association with knowledgenetwork (knet), the learning and training consultancy. Courses are certified with American Board of NLP.
knet is an independent training and management consultancy, and specialises in live speaker seminars and business conferences including IHR Arabia. It provides access to a network of international, regional and local organisations, such as the Chartered Institute of Marketing, the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development, Institute of Administrative Management, and the Institute of Leadership and Management as well as the Masters Certificate in Project Management from Regis University.
