Commenting on the approval from the Ministry of Higher Education, HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chair of the University's Provisional Council, said: "The news is excellent for BUiD. I would like to express my gratitude to HE Sheikh Nahyan bin Mabarak Al Nahyan, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Commissioners of the Ministry for their considerable efforts in enabling accreditation eligibility status to be achieved so quickly. This official acknowledgement by the Ministry demonstrates their appreciation for the quality and relevance of our programmes."

Granting this status is a significant achievement for BUiD. The programmes in Informatics and Project Management will provide world class knowledge, skills and innovation for the UAE and region. The programmes, designed with the assistance and input of UK partners (The University of Edinburgh and The University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology), will bring a British standard of higher education to the UAE. Moreover, the Informatics and Project Management programmes were specifically selected and developed to enable graduates to develop their research expertise and contribute to the development needs and knowledge economy of the UAE.

"Everyone at The British University in Dubai has worked hard to achieve the accreditation eligibility and all are grateful to His Excellency and his staff for their great efforts, valuable direction and the priority which they have given to enabling the University to open this September," said David J Lock, Registrar and Acting Chief Executive of BUiD. "Receiving Accreditation Eligibility Status for the Project Management and Informatics programmes now means the UAE truly has the best of British Education in Dubai. BUiD's standards have been officially recognised and other programmes are being developed."

BUiD will hold 'Open Days' at the Crowne Plaza in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, 1st September, and at the Sofitel, City Centre, Dubai on Tuesday 2nd and Wednesday 3rd September. Further Open Days will be held at the BUiD campus, Knowledge Village from 4th September through to the 24th. The Open Days will give prospective students an opportunity to learn more about the University and to meet with academic staff.

BUiD will also offer a series of 'Open Lectures' at its Knowledge Village campus in September. The lecture series will provide professionals and the general public with an insight into the latest developments and research relevant to the UAE in areas such as Informatics, Project Management and Education. The lectures will be given by BUiD academic staff, all of whom are internationally experienced researchers in their fields.
