- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, August 29 - 2004 at 09:37
- PRESS RELEASE
UAE-based medical portal univadis.md recently announced its official partnership with Reuters to give credible medical news and source to its users.
"The partnership with Reuters is a significant move in making univadis.md more professional as it provides comprehensive and accurate medical news and information. It also gives further credence to the portal," said Nader Abou Chakra, univadis.md's Regional Marketing Coordinator for the Middle East and Africa.
Reuters, a leading news service provider, has a vast resource on both general news and specialized health information. "Its name speaks for itself and we are proud that Reuters allied with univadis.md," revealed Mr. Abou Chakra.
In a doctors' survey carried out during the pre-launch phase of univadis.md in 2003, it showed that 55% of UAE physicians use the Internet as their main source for cultivating medical breakthrough information on a drug, treatment, or scientific finding which in turn, has an impact on the perception of their professional practice.
Reuters will provide univadis.md timely updates on the latest medical practices, disease info, therapeutic guidelines, clinical trials and breaking heath reports around the world and round the clock. Reuters has a team of experienced medical editors and writers who gather and compile the information from various medical journals and periodicals, specialty associations, and other e-medical resources. This content is updated three times daily.
For its part, univadis.md which was recently launched in the UAE, allows specialists to access information on their specific field of expertise rather than receive general medical news. In all, univadis.md serves 56 specialized medical fields and specialties.
Further, univadis.md has an involving nature as it allows the users to personalize their pages to tailor specific needs for information. A cardiologist for example, need not see tons of unrelated news and get only cardiology-related information when accessing the portal.
"Over the long run, we want to position univadis.md to be the standard online service provider for physicians as a professional, open-minded and involving source of medical information ensuring high quality content. Consequently, univadis.md aids the continuous education of medical professionals," said Mr. Abou Chakra.
