The future of food courts is now

  • United Arab Emirates: Sunday, August 29 - 2004 at 10:47
  • PRESS RELEASE

Catering to the discerning culinary tastes of UAE residents who continually search for concept restaurants with authentic settings, Gardens Shopping Mall is looking to add some flavour and excitement to the food courts of the future.

Due to open on Sheikh Zayed Road in February of 2005, Gardens Shopping Mall, together with FSR and DesignInc are working on a functional design for the mall's food court that will not only offer exceptional food, but also feature satellite cafes, beautiful landscapes, clever use of natural light and a feel-good atmosphere.

Both FSR and DesignInc have extensive experience in projects within Europe, Canada, Australia and South East Asia, and have resources to deliver a truly 21st century food court. With Gardens Shopping Mall, they are seeking to implement a 'food theatre' approach, where tenants will be presenting food that not only tastes good, but is delivered in an aesthetically pleasing environment as well.

Visitors to Gardens Shopping Mall can expect an abundance of colour and fresh food displays within the food court itself. To add to this, the ambience is enough to set Gardens food court apart from the rest, as food courts are generally seen as unexciting and uninviting.

The future of food courts, however, looks more stimulating as Gardens Shopping Mall sets the trend by offering a more exciting and enjoyable dining experience. The Mall management team will be introducing the best food court in the Middle East with tempting food displays as well as efficient, 'value for money' meals. In total, there will be 16 tenancies, all of which will be designed in accordance to the type of food being offered.

Keeping in line with Gardens Shopping Mall's design of being a journey of discovery, the deconstructed food court's restaurants have been broken up so as customers walk through, there will be another restaurant to discover with each turn. With banquettes and couches, as well as the necessary tables and chairs, the Mall's food court will be reminiscent of cosy cafes and favourite restaurants people will want to return to again and again.

According to Andrew Chambers, General Manager of the Gardens Shopping Mall, "Much attention to detail has gone into the overall design of the Mall, including the construction of the food court. From the quality of the food, to the way it is presented, no aspect has been overlooked. Our aim is to impress our clientele by offering them the very best in food, ambience, service and facilities."

Francis Loughran, Managing Director for FSR, further commented on the concept and said, "The food court planned for Gardens Shopping Mall will be unlike any other in the Middle East. With only the highest quality of food and service, we expect that our court will surpass people's expectations of the whole "food court" experience in general. With delicious food and a memorable ambience and atmosphere, a visit to the food court will be an overall aesthetic delight for the senses."

The Gardens Shopping Mall food court will feature popular international fast food majors, ethnic cuisine from various parts of the world as well as specialized cuisine concepts. With growing interest from culinary experts and restaurant owners, Gardens Shopping Mall food court is sure to attract many visitors not only to enjoy the ambience but to also be thoroughly entertained.

Gardens Shopping Mall, A Nakheel Project, is conceived to celebrate Dubai's increasing role as one of the world's top shopping destinations. Located adjacent to Sheikh Zayed road between interchanges 5 and 6, the Mall will combine retail, entertainment, restaurants and family activities all within a uniquely themed environment that is designed to reflect the unique combination of Middle East heritage and cosmopolitan lifestyle that is the very essence of Dubai. Construction is on schedule with an expected opening date of February 2005. The architectural inspiration behind the unique design of the shopping mall is based on the travels of the legendary Arab explorer Ibn Battuta. The mall will be segmented into six distinct architectural zones, representing key destinations visited by Ibn Battuta.
Gardens Shopping Mall will also feature a 20 screen cinema complex, THE UAE's first IMAX cinema, a fully themed children's play zone, themed garden areas and food courts.
