The British University in Dubai (BUiD), the region's first research-based graduate university, opens its doors to students in September.

Work on the campus has been underway for several months now and the finishing touches are being added to the brand new buildings in Knowledge Village, Dubai. The first semester starts on September 25th. and students in the first intake will play an influential role in shaping the future of this unique university.

The Masters programmes in Project Management, Informatics and Education being offered at BUiD have been chosen for their relevance to the Arab world. With its strong research orientation, BUiD has already attracted significant interest from employers, as well as from prospective students throughout the region. One of the key attractions for students is the opportunity that BUiD offers to be part of a university community while taking a graduate programme in Dubai which matches the standards and quality offered by elite British universities.

BUiD is holding a number of events throughout September which will serve to introduce the University to businesses and the community. As a research-based university, BUiD's mission is to stimulate, generate and disseminate research that will contribute to the economic growth of the region.

As part of the opening celebratory activities in September, BUiD is holding an Open Lecture series at its Knowledge Village campus. The Open Lectures will address the latest developments and research in Project Management, Informatics and Education and will be of interest to professionals and members of the public with an interest in those fields. They will be offered free and will be given by BUiD academic staff, all of whom have been appointed for their research expertise.

As well as the Open Lecture series, BUiD is also holding Open Days throughout September. Many students are still undecided about pursuing a Masters programme and are looking around at what's available to them. In order to give them the opportunity to find out about programmes at BUiD Open Days are being held in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

"Following the award of accreditation eligibility status for its leading programmes, this is the first opportunity that citizens of the Emirates will have to experience the quality of BUiD. At the Open Days prospective students will be able to meet with lecturers to form the best decision for their future. I look forward to welcoming you all to the Open Days and Lectures," said David J. Lock, Registrar and Acting Chief Executive of BUiD.

The first open day will be in Abu Dhabi at the Crowne Plaza on 1 September from 2 - 8pm. Visitors will be able to meet with academic staff and gain first hand information about programmes. The BUiD roadshow then moves to the Sofitel City Centre Hotel in Dubai for 2nd and 3rd where academic staff will again be on hand to meet with visitors from 2 -8 pm each day. From 4th September onwards interested students can visit the BUiD campus in Knowledge Village, Dubai where academic staff will again be dedicating time from 2 - 8pm each day to meeting with visitors.
