GITEX Computer Shopper presents extraordinary product line-up and offers for students

Anticipation for GITEX Computer Shopper, the annual IT retail extravaganza which will be held at the Airport Expo from October 2 to 8 this year, continues to build, as exhibitors announced a series of money-saving offers and promotions especially targeted towards children and students announced organisers Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).

Leading exhibitor Jumbo Electronics has planned live demonstrations of all of its products where children and students can test and try products first hand before purchasing.

Director of Marketing and Communications, Kiran Chhabria, said "Today's generation of young people are extremely technology-savvy and demand the latest in products and services - which is why GITEX Computer Shopper is so appealing to this audience. With this in mind, as another first in the market, Jumbo will introduce a new processor called Dothan with a 2MB cache memory and desktops that have high-end home entertainment facilities."

This year, Computer Shopper is expected to break all sorts of records in number of visitors, participants and net space sold. Last year, Computer Shopper attracted more than 9,000 students through pre-arranged group tours organised by schools and colleges from all over the UAE.

General Manager, Marketing, for Cosmos, Mr. P.M Nankani said, "With the tremendous response from college students last year, we will again offer similar and more special promotions particularly targeted towards our discerning youth customers. This year, look out for our selection of latest in digital cameras from Konica Minolta, Digital Video Camcorders and LCD TV's from Sharp and an envious consumer notebook line from Fujistu, which includes the latest AMD and Intel based configurations, Wireless LAN Technology, Wide Screen displays - you name it! "

Students concerned about financing their new technology purchases need not worry, as payment options have also been made simple at Computer Shopper with a host of on-site banking offers and easy payment facilities, credit card promotions and instant cash prizes being organised by many of the banks.

Jacky's Electronics is also participating in the exhibition and will be showcasing the latest Digital cameras, MP3 players, laptops, mobile phones and other tools with special offers for students. Jacky's promotions will be particularly attractive for students during GITEX for its 'value bundle offers' - combinations of complementary IT products.

"Our range at GITEX Computer Shopper this year extends to cover technology requirements at the home, school and office. Young people today are one of the main influencers of technology purchases since they tend to understand it best and every year we see a phenomenal amount of visitors from this younger age bracket" said Jacky's Electronics Chief Operating Officer, Ashish Panjabi.

Other major exhibitors include electronics giant Sony, who will present 'Sony World', an expanded showcasing arena of the latest in gaming, digital imaging and home entertainment targeting students.

Exhibitors have gone a step ahead this time launching exclusive packages for children. One can step into interactive gaming zones and challenge friends, or simply cruise through the latest on offer of laptops, notebooks, and digital video cameras. For the knowledge seekers, there is an array of interesting educational software to keep young and older minds intellectually stimulated.

Leading global and regional companies such as HP, Acer, Sony, Dell, Microsoft, JVC, Samsung, BenQ, Jumbo, Jacky's, Plug-Ins, Emirates Computers, CompuMe, Eros Electricals, Grand Stores and Cell-U-Com have all expanded their presence and have announced bundle offers and promotions for students.
