Consumer electronics giant Sony gears up for GITEX 2004 to showcase new generation product line-up

Sony Gulf FZE, the regional subsidiary of the global consumer electronics giant, Sony Corporation, today announced lining-up an array of its eclectic new generation digital product range at an exclusive, dedicated 'Sony World' stall at the Middle East's largest ICT show, GITEX 2004.

GITEX 2004 will take place at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) from October 3rd to 7th 2004.

The `Sony World' stall will be divided into two zones, the Consumer Audio/Video and the Computer gaming, allowing visitors a cross-section experience of Sony's new-age digital product range, from gaming and entertainment to versatile mobile computing.

The managing director, Sony Gulf FZE, Mr. Masaru Tamagawa, said: "The Middle East is a very discerning market and GITEX has always been the ideal platform for Sony to introduce and showcase its array of superior consumer electronics products. This year, `Sony World' stall at GITEX 2004 will reflect our focus on high-end digital products which we consider as the engine of growth for Sony."

"Sony has a superior pioneering advantage in digital products and the uptake of these products in the Middle East market is currently on an upswing, fuelling our growth in the regional market substantially," he added.

The new cutting-edge products which will be displayed at the `Sony World' will range from Sony's flat panel TVs powered by WEGA Engine™, Sony's intelligent picture enhancement system and high resolution Super Fine Pitch ™ CRT, worry-free Cyber-shot digital still cameras, digital camcorders - the Handycam, memory stick solutions, VAIO 'Pocket' - the digital music player, the constant-carry PC VAIO `U', audio enhancements like ATRAC3 Plus and the USB-enabled storage device Micro Vault, among others. Sony World will also feature a WEGA Theatre branded lounge area where visitors could relax and unwind, while enjoying the complete WEGA Theatre experience.

The Mini-PlayStation arena which forms a part of the Sony World stand at GITEX 2004 will feature title related thematic stands that will bring to life the spirit of software and enhance the gaming experience. Consumers will have the opportunity to try out various software including exclusive previews of games under development.

Mr. Tamagawa said the focus on digital product range at the premier ICT show was in line with Sony's global strategy. "Digital technology is the in-thing now and GITEX 2004 will offer visitors a rare advantage to take a close look at Sony's cutting-edge technology that powers some of the most sought after products world over."
