Conference on Cool Chain in a Supply Chain to be held in Dubai
- United Arab Emirates: Thursday, September 02 - 2004 at 08:50
- PRESS RELEASE
When a plus becomes a minus in a temperature controlled environment and time-sensitive consignment of perishable products - it is technology to the aid of logisticians who redefine credentials of the Middle East logistics.
The Cool Chain technology is transforming the desert into a blooming garden. It is more emphatically expressed by FPIA (Flower & Plant Industry Association) - an entity taking shape out of combined interests of players under the cool chain initiatives of the industry.- to develop floriculture industry on a scale as that done by Aalsmeer Auction House in The Netherlands and other growing regions of the world - like USA, Colombia, Ecuador, East Aftica, India and Far East.
Ali Al Jallaf, Director of Dubai Cargo Village, will deliver the keynote address at the Cool Chain Conference. He states, "We have to be alive to the floriculture needs of the region and to that end, we have to cater to that need at the highest level, hence we want the best. Looking comprehensively, the Flower Centre will also put strong emphasis on developing a strong technical team as well as a world class work force" This points to development of a sound training program in cool chain management and perishable logistics that will be the outcome of the conference proceedings in 10 sessions over two days on October 12/13 at DNATA Conference Centre.
TransLogistique (TLC) will bring the high quality professional program established through bilateral institutional alliances in North America and Europe. The training curriculum will cover floral studies in design and to include the core learning modules in transportation, warehousing, information technology, material handling and packaging of fragile flowers - the TWIMP®
The training program will be joint effort of academics and the industry experts who will add value by sharing concerns in areas that needs most attention and comply with the newly created Cool Chain Quality Indicator (CCQI) developed by the Cool Chain Association and Germanischer Lloyd (GL). CCQI provides a benchmark not only for the industry but also for training in integrated supply chain strategy that will make Dubai truly as a hub. The conference in cool chain will benefit all participants who will network with players in the supply chain on a common denominator defined by TLC as causes of positive progress in logistics.
