AUST Network Faculty of Information, Communication & Public Relations introduces new specialties

Ajman University of Science and Technology Network's Faculty of Information, Mass Communication & PR is planning to introduce new specialties for the new academic year 2005-06.

The new specialties including Written Journalism, TV and Radio and Advertising section will soon be introduced once the plan is worked out and the required accreditation from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research are acquired.

Dr Abdul AlAli Zaiati, Dean Faculty of Information, Mass Communication and PR said, "The Faculty of Information and Mass Communication will do its utmost to develop its content by introducing the latest in the media field with an objective to prepare graduates competent to work in journalism, mass communication and public relation."

"The Faculty staffers are in close touch with what is happening in the field of Media and Mass Communication, hence they will be well prepared to keep the pace with the new technology and new trends in the marketplace and its needs", added Dr Zaiani.

He said, "In the last few years we have witnessed a lots of changes in the way the TV channels, radio and press address the public, and how they managed to turn the world into a global village in which every one is approachable. To bring about skilful and efficient individuals in mass communication, the faculty have and will continue to organize a number of workshops and training programmes. One of the most useful media we use to train our students is to participate in our seasonal Magazine (Media -Horizon) -(Aafaq Eilamia) which contain a lot of news and views compiled by the students. The magazine is prepared and designed by the students using the available resources".

He said, "The Faculty will utilize to the maximum the university facilities including the Media Training Center and the Center for Continuous Education and Training to prepare well qualified graduates. We ultimately want to feed the marketplace in the UAE and the region with efficient graduates in Press, Magazine and Journalism firms, photography, Radio and TV stations, programme production, film producing and public relations ".
