As demand for notebook computers, cameras, and PDAs increases across the Middle East, people are looking for increased storage capacity to save their cherished memories, important documents and files. Western Digital's Media Center, which was recently launched in the region, has proven to be popular with those wanting to download and store files efficiently and with ease.

"The response following the launch of the Media Center in the Middle East has been extremely positive," said Saeid Marashi, senior regional sales manager, Middle East and Africa, Western Digital. "We want to capitalize on that and GITEX is the perfect platform for us to do it."

Visitors to the Western Digital stand, who are exhibiting with distributors Al Yousuf and FDC, will have access to the company's latest products, and experts will be on hand to offer advice and information about the company's entire portfolio of devices.

"As the Middle East's premier IT showcase, GITEX allows us to demonstrate our commitment to the region and helps to create a greater awareness of the Western Digital brand," added Marashi.

Western Digital's Media Center is an easy-to-use storage solution that appeals to people who want to store music, videos and photographs. It combines a 250 GB WD Caviar SE hard drive, and 8-in-1 memory card reader, USB 2.0 hub and the company's exclusive Dual-option Backup feature.

As well as highlighting its consumer range, Western Digital will also focus on the WD Raptor, which is popular with enterprise storage vendors and system builders across the Middle East.

The WD Raptor 74 GB spins at 10,000 RPM and employs SATA, command queuing and Rotary Accelerometer Feed Forward (RAFF) technology for increased performance. It delivers enterprise capabilities at less cost than traditional enterprise hard drives.

"For enterprise storage vendors, Western Digital offers a cost-effective product, offering the greatest performance and reliability of all SATA hard drives available at the moment," said Marashi.

"This year's GITEX promises to be our best ever, with products aimed at both consumers and IT decision makers."
