The company will showcase the X700 tri-band smart phone along with the mobile phone compatible miniSDTM (secure digital), the world's smallest flash memory card and the X300 tri-band phone at the exhibition which will run from October 3 to 7, 2004 at Dubai International Exhibition Centre (DIEC).

Panasonic's new GSM line is designed along the new trend of lifestyle mobile phones, popular among the younger generation. In keeping with the company's reputation as a pioneer in the technology, Panasonic's new miniSDTM Memory Card is set to be the industry standard among mobile phone manufacturers looking for compact, removable memory cards to enhance current mobile device capabilities.

Panasonic's flagship phone for 2004, the X700 smart phone has been designed as the ultimate tool for mobile professionals. The most unique feature of this compact 'clamshell' phone is that it supports the miniSDTM card, thus extending its storage capacity and ability to link to other SD-compatible AV and printing equipment. Measuring just 21.5 mm in length, 20.0 mm in width and 1.4 mm in thickness and weighing about a gram, the miniSDTM Card has outstanding functions and performance in a tiny form, that is, 40 percent of the volume than the standard SD Memory Card.

"The X700 will appeal to the increasing number of users requiring compact and stylish mobile phones for their business, as well as personal needs. Built on the Symbian OS (operating system) and the Series 60 Platform, the X700 smartphone allows users to view and edit Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint presentations and documents, which can then be seamlessly connected to other AV equipment. In addition, the X700's digital camera, video, email and multimedia messaging and Bluetooth®, capabilities make this model one of the most technically advanced mobile phones on the market," said Shigeru Uno, General Manager, System products, Panasonic Marketing Middle East FZE, Dubai.

In addition, an imaging application enables users to edit photos taken with the handset's high quality camera. Using the X700's Java capability, the user can download further applications, polyphonic ring tones and games *

In addition, its tri-band capabilities means users can take advantage of the X700's features and services while abroad. The X700 also features one of the first speaker independent voice recognition systems, to ease the dialing of numbers from the phonebook and to control some of the functions in the phone, all without having to train it first.

The other phone in Panasonic's GITEX line-up, the X300 is at the cutting-edge of mobile technology. Among its salient features are a built-in VGA camera that can shoot short video clips as well as still shots, an innovative, pop-up screen design with a 65K colour screen, polyphonic ring tones, video record and playback capability.

By supporting GPRS and MMS, the X300 allows users to send photos and even video clips to a compatible phone or PC. It is also tri-band, which means that pictures and video images can be shared between users anywhere in the world.

The phone is light and easy to use, making it perfect for style conscious consumers that want the latest technology combined with sleek design.
