"Our philosophy is to focus on the need of the future labour market and what the new economy requires in terms of qualified human resources. We are the producers of the new qualified and efficient generation who could lead their nation to prosperity. This program will prepare graduates to master the professional competency and skills to be able to conduct the design and develop effective and efficient technology-based learning materials ", added Dr Salman.

Dr. Ibrahim Qerfal, Section Director, Educational Technology, said," The graduates of the Educational Technology have always been in demand, even before the specialization granted the full accreditation of the UAE education authorities concerned. Since it was launched five years ago the EDT specialization has been met with a lot of interest both from the students and the institutions employing them".

"EDT help using multimedia technologies or audiovisual aids as a tool to enhance the teaching and learning process. Education technology is an integrated process involving people, procedures, ideas, devices, and organization for analyzing problems and devising, managing, and evaluating solutions to those problems involved in all aspects of human learning ", said Dr Qerfal.

"The main goal of launching the specialization is to allow an opportunity for the students interested in the programme which is not available as major in any of the Middle East universities. The programme is widely known in the US and Canada educational institutions since 1969. It includes all components of information technology used in the delivery of educational materials," he said. Admission and registration for the EDT program is still open for those interested to join the new academic year 2004-2005.

The Educational Technology specialization falls under the Faculty of Education and Basic Science with a mission to prepare students to be specialized in the field of Educational Technology.

The Educational department offers a program with emphasis on areas which prepare educators and technologists for excellence and leadership in the field. EDT graduates are qualified to assume the responsibility of training designers both in private and government institutions and training agencies.
