The three-day conference - in which Tejari is one of the sponsors - is being held under the auspices of His Excellency Mohammed Hosny Mubarak, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, with the theme 'CIT: A Path for a New Arab World.'

Tejari's CEO addressed a number of issues in her presentation, including the ways in which technology is being used to advance the revival of the Arab world. Sheikha Lubna also highlighted the opportunity of using Dubai government initiatives as a role model for capitalizing on technology to drive efficiency and transparency.

A number of themes were discussed during Sheikha Lubna's address, including technology adoption as a driver of reform in the region, leading to efficiency, greater transparency, and the availability of private business opportunities. The Sheikha will also participate and speak tomorrow in the e-Government devoted session.

Delegates from the local, regional and national business communities utilized the forum to discuss a range of topics relating to the region's expanding information society including e-learning, investment in the IT and telecommunications sectors, Arab revitalization through technology, and regional security-related issues.

"Egypt as a market has grown in strategic importance to Tejari as we both expand regionally and strive to link trading communities in the Middle East and Africa. This conference gives us an ideal platform to observe and comment on the phenomenal contribution that information technology has made to the rapid economic growth in the region," stated Sheikha Lubna.

Accompanying Tejari's CEO at the event will be Rami Jaghoub, VP Franchise Operations, and Nawfal Al Jourani, Marketing Director, who assisted her in conducting a targeted workshop entitled 'Arab Trade and the E-Commerce Challenge.' The workshop focused on the business advantages that Tejari is currently delivering to the region's business community, as well as franchising and expansion opportunities in the region. Tejari also hosted an evening networking event at the conference.

The conference is specifically designed to facilitate as much delegate interaction as possible through a number of plenary sessions, panel discussions, workshops, country luncheons and receptions, and interactive brainstorming sessions.

Other delegates attended the conference included the Prime Minister of Egypt; ministers of state from a number of Arab nations, including Egypt, Syria and Jordan; the CEO of the Jordan Investment Authority and CIT; and senior businesses figures from Microsoft, Cisco, and other leading technology vendors.
