Increase in population number helps in rural development and in creating modern cities

Speaking at the opening session of the Approach Symposium organized by Ajman University of Science and Technology and attended by His Highness Shaikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of Supreme Council, Ruler of Ajman, Dr Mohammed Abdullah Al Mansoori said," More population means more development and hence more stability. Development of rural areas is the duty of the human being who wherever land will establish himself and create life which means developing areas around him. It is therefore essential to think of people when we talk about rural development. It is always man who creates the best in habitat and creates social links to live comfortably and safe ".

He pointed out that the UAE is a great example of a nation that started from scratch to build itself with the help of the strong will of its leadership and people and the visionary attitude of President Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Under the theme Rural Development in German and UAE Cities a number of prominent speakers including the Mayor of Arlingen-Germany have presented their papers to a big crowd at the university premises at Al Jerf.


Dr Al Mansoori said, "The UAE has rapidly developed into a modern country with all its ancient cities transformed over a short period of time from the old style of the past to the most sophisticated style of the present. UAE can now be compared with modern cities in Europe and Asia. The great investment in developing the UAE cities have made the difference, because there is no development without investing heavily in upgrading the infrastructure".

He added, "I firmly believe that the perfect distribution of oil and gas revenues in developing and improving cities is the main reason why we see beautiful and clean cities in the UAE. What we see today in the UAE is par with its counterparts in the western cities. Designs and architecture of the buildings have been imitated from the modern world ''.

Dr Segrefred Balais, German Mayor of Arlengen said," UAE and Germany enjoy a strong realtionship, therefore this should be utilised to its maximum to develop our two countries. Dr Bal expressed his admiration and appreciation of what he has seen in the UAE.

The symposium was attended by a large crowd including governmental department officials, businessmen, university teaching staffs and other students.
