Standard Chartered Bank launches Dubai Marathon website
- United Arab Emirates: Monday, September 06 - 2004 at 12:04
- PRESS RELEASE
Standard Chartered Bank, one of the top three foreign banks operating in the UAE, has announced the launch of the Dubai Marathon 2005 website.
Standard Chartered, which recently announced its sponsorship of the Dubai Marathon, is a major supporter of the marathon discipline on a global level, including those in Hong Kong, Singapore, Nairobi and Mumbai.
"Obviously with an event of this size, there is a great deal of information that needs to be made available so it is very important that the website is easily accessible for everyone," said Ray Ferguson, CEO, Standard Chartered Bank UAE.
The website features maps of each of the three courses - the marathon itself, the 10k road race and the 3k fun run - with descriptions of each course alongside. Information on recommended viewing areas for spectators and fundraising tips for those wishing to take part is also included.
Advice and guidance on nutritional, medical and fitness considerations for the more inexperienced participants is contained in the 'Runner's Information' section, as are training schedules specifically tailored towards the event for either beginners or more experienced runners.
One of the website's main features is an online registration process that provides a quick and convenient entry process. This facility is of particular importance to potential participants who are not resident in Dubai. International visitors can also use the website to access background information on Dubai, and travel and accommodation advice for the event.
"We are expecting a number of overseas participants, which is why we are so pleased to offer online registration through the website at this early stage," said Peter Connerton, Race Director. "Most people now have easy access to the internet and we anticipate a large proportion of entries using this facility, whether locally or from other countries."
The race takes place on Friday, January 7, 2005, with the marathon starting at 7 am, and race registrations are already being submitted.
