GE creates new Middle East and Africa region president and company officer

GE announced the appointment of Nabil Habayeb, 46, as a company officer and President of the newly created Middle East & Africa region.
As President for Middle East and Africa, Nabil Habayeb will be responsible for developing and expanding the growth of GE's different businesses across the newly created region, reporting to Nani Beccalli, President & CEO, EMEA, Latin America and Canada.
"Nabil is a true GE growth leader and has done a tremendous job of expanding GE's presence in key growth regions," said Chairman & CEO Jeff Immelt. "The newly created Middle East & Africa region is an important growth area for GE, with a broad range of infrastructure and technology needs that GE can offer."
Nani Beccalli said "As the company continues to globalize, we need to reinforce our representation in key markets and this appointment is a demonstration of that strategy."
Most recently, Nabil Habayeb was Region Executive and General Manager, Africa, India and Middle East for GE Energy, a role he began in January 2001. Prior to that, he was General Manager, Energy Services Sales, Africa, India, and Middle East, for GE Energy. Nabil brings 22 years of experience working in the Middle East & Africa region.
"This new position shows the company's commitment to the region and to bringing our latest technology, products, and service solutions to customers in the Middle East and Africa" said Nabil Habayeb.
Abdullah Taibah named Region Executive and General Manager, GE Energy Middle East and Africa
Coinciding with Nabil Habayeb's appointment, Abdullah Taibah, formerly the Regional Executive for the Middle East will succeed Habayeb as Region Executive and General Manager, Middle East and Africa for GE Energy, reporting to James N. Suciu, President Global Sales, and GE Energy.
In his new role, Abdullah will be responsible for leading GE Energy's Sales in the region, which includes sales strategy, orders and growth plans across the entire GE Energy portfolio.
