Gardens Shopping Mall together with MTE will position the mall as a unique shopping and entertainment destination that appeals to all demographics. MTE Studios have already helped in theming some of the world's most unique property developments and have years of experience in project and production management.

According to Andrew Chambers, general manager of Gardens Shopping Mall, the idea is to create a consumer environment that people want to revisit having many memorable experiences. People can shop anywhere but at Gardens, they enjoy the historical perspective in the six themed courts, based on Ibn Battuta's dangerous and thrilling adventures as he journeyed through Andalusia, North Africa, Egypt, Persia, India and China.

"Engaging MTE Studios to handle Gardens Shopping Mall's themes was easy as their credentials worked perfectly with our requirements. The materials they use are of the best quality and their main asset is their international team of art directors, designers, engineers and architects, ensuring that Gardens Shopping Mall is in the hands of experts who have had extensive experience in their line of work," Mr. Chambers stipulates.

Gardens Shopping Mall is confident that their link with MTE will take the concept of shopping to another level by reflecting the region's history in a mall that transforms the traditional souk concept into a modern mall experience, combining shopping, recreational activities and an appetizing world class food court to visit.

Ludo Verheyen, Director of MTE Studios adds, "A project like Gardens Shopping Mall is very exciting as we get to create a modern shopping experience in a historical context. We have immersed ourselves in researching the architecture and landscapes of the different countries represented in the Mall, as a result, allowing us to easily reflect the culture of each individual place."

Elements that will be major attractions include the distinct retail experience offered by each of the six courts. For instance, the China Court will prominently feature an impressive sinking ship at the busy port of Guangzhou, while the Persian Court will highlight the theme of Ibn Battuta's discovery of a hidden cave of gold and other treasures.

We have also adapted retail zoning into the planning of Gardens Shopping Mall. In doing so, a consumer can comparatively shop with ease rather than rush around a mall in search of a particular product or service. The zones will be divided into three sections, the first being Family Convenience, then Major Department Stores, Up-Market Brands & Lifestyles and finally with Entertainment World. Thus, zoning ensures that consumers enjoy a trouble-free shopping experience.

Gardens Shopping Mall, with its unique themes and zones, ensures that today's generation learns more about the life and travels of Ibn Battuta as they enjoy shopping or taking a break with the many recreational activities that are integral to the overall mall experience.
