USQ Vice Chancellor and President Professor Bill Lovegrove said he looked forward to being present at the time the USQ in Dubai branch opens its doors to students in the Knowledge Village on 25 September.

"I am excited by the life-long-learning opportunities that we will be able to offer the people of the Gulf region via the university's internationally recognised, flexibly delivered degree and diploma programs," Professor Lovegrove said.

"We have already had a number of students from the Gulf attend and graduate from USQ Australia and we look forward to graduating many more students in the future."

Professor Lovegrove said USQ in Dubai would take into account the demand for highly skilled knowledge workers in Dubai and would be engaging with Dubai-based businesses and authorities to identify employer needs in the areas of Information Technology, Business and Commerce, Health Sciences, Education, Engineering and the Arts.

He said USQ was currently processing close to 300 applications for USQ in Dubai and projections for the start of first Semester 2005/6 indicated that the branch could have a total enrolment of around 1300 students.

"USQ already has 410 students enrolled from the Gulf, including 294 from the UAE, and we look forward to providing a world class learning experience to many more students from the region at USQ in Dubai," Professor Lovegrove said.
