This announcement came after the Pinnacle Systems has qualified the Big Disk Extreme and FireWire 800 PCI Card for use with Pinnacle's CinéWave RT and CinéWave RT Pro real-time editing systems.

LaCie introduced the Big Disk Extreme with a capacity of 1.6TB in July 2004 at Macworld Expo Boston. Drives include all cables needed for use with the dual FireWire 800, FireWire 400, and iLink/DV ports-ideal for professionals working with audio and video on both Macintosh and Windows platforms. LaCie FireWire 800 PCI Cards include three FireWire 800 ports.
