- PRESS RELEASE
Telecom Egypt and Ericsson have signed a contract for the supply of a multi-service network in Egypt in the region of Alexandria.
The new network will use the latest advanced Ericsson multi-service network technology using softswitch and includes the Ericsson Engine Integral Network and Ericsson Engine Access Ramp. The new network provides Telecom Egypt with a new efficient and flexible network that offers a wide range of modern narrow- and broadband, voice and data communications services in one network.
"Ericsson is one of the leaders in the softswitch market and Telecom Egypt were offered a very competitive solution that is implemented in a record time " said Eng. Dawlat El Badawi, Duputy Chairman for Planning at Telecom Egypt. "With this contract we confirm our strategic relationship with Ericsson. We foresee extensive use of Ericsson's experience and deep insight infrastructure for telecommunications."
"We are very honored that Telcom Egypt once again has selected Ericsson as supplier," said Johan Lallerstedt, Head of Market Unit Northern Africa and President Ericsson Egypt. "This contract further strengthens our relationship with Telecom Egypt and conforms our position in the market."
The solution contracted provides class 5 services in a softswitch and Ericsson is the first vendor to supply this to Telecom Egypt. This means that the Ericsson Engine Integral Network, using layered architecture, is connected directly to the Ericsson Engine Access Ramp without a local exchange for connecting access nodes. This concept reduces capital expenditure and enables faster deployment of the network.
Ericsson is shaping the future of Mobile and Broadband Internet communications through its continuous technology leadership. Providing innovative solutions in more than 140 countries, Ericsson is helping to create the most powerful communication companies in the world.
