The tours will end on 7th October 2004 and photography will not be permitted.

"The eCompany Data Centres in Dubai and Abu Dhabi form the backbone of eCompany's hosting solutions," explained Ahmad Abdulkarim Julfar, General Manager, eCompany. "They house mission-critical applications of numerous organisations from both private and public sectors. These visits will give people an insight into the latest technology powering Middle East e-commerce," he said.

The facilities at the two data centres have been designed in such a way as to afford the maximum physical and virtual protection available in line with the latest disaster recovery and management practices. With redundancy being a key word, duplication can be found at all levels - equipment, network, electricity and storage. Each site mirrors the other, enabling operations to continue in the event of a crisis at either Abu Dhabi or Dubai. 24x7 technical support is carried out by highly trained and competent IT engineers.

Visitors are rarely allowed into either of the data centres, where access is strictly controlled as part of eCompany's stringent security measures. "Obviously infrastructure and data security is of the upmost importance so opportunities to view our facilities are extremely rare," Julfar added.
