  • PRESS RELEASE

Dubai Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) Civil Engineering Department announced today the signing of an agreement with Tejari, the Middle East online marketplace, to deploy Tejari Project Collaboration on the company's diverse construction projects.

By using Tejari Project Collaboration, PCFC officials anticipate a reduction in construction costs as well as a faster time to market by reducing the amount of paper and administration required in PCFC 's tendering and construction efforts.

Tejari Project Collaboration is an online solution that has been developed by Tejari in conjunction with PCFC Civil Engineering Department to cater to the specific needs of the region's burgeoning building and construction industry. It enables different parties involved in the construction process to collaborate in real time, and to view blueprints, share documents, and even 'meet' online to speed the construction process through improved communication. The deployment of online collaboration tools, such as Tejari Project Collaboration, has shown a saving of up to 10% on construction costs when used on construction projects in US and Europe.

According to Nazek Al-Sabbagh, Head of the Civil Engineering Department, implementation of the Tejari Project Collaboration at PCFC has already begun and the first project is anticipated to go live shortly. "When it comes to introducing new technology and processes, the Civil Engineering Department is always one step ahead. Having already successfully tested Tejari Project Collaboration on a pilot project earlier this year, and taking into consideration the steady increase in the number of construction projects in which PCFC is involved, we felt that the time was ripe to start the implementation on a larger scale."

"Streamlining operations is critical to the overall success of any of our construction initiatives, as the reduction in the amount of paper used enables us to be more efficient and significantly reduces costs. By improving document control and information sharing across the project, and reducing errors, rework and wastage, Tejari Project Collaboration utilization will lead to a healthier bottom line," she added.

Because Tejari Project Collaboration is an outsourced service provided and managed by Tejari, project participants don't need to invest in additional hardware or software to capitalize on its benefits. An Internet connection and web browser are the only components required for users.

"By working with local construction leaders such as the PCFC Civil Engineering Department, and providing them with a reliable and cost effective tool such as Tejari Project Collaboration, we are s contributing to the maturation of the region's construction industry. As an increasing number of construction organizations automate the tendering and construction processes, we anticipate greater adoption of Tejari Project Collaboration," commented Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, CEO, Tejari.
