Dubai Festival City signs new hotel agreement with Four Seasons
- United Arab Emirates: Saturday, September 18 - 2004 at 10:53
- PRESS RELEASE
The Al Futtaim Group, the developers behind the 1,600-acre Dubai Festival City project, has signed a letter of intent with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts to manage a luxury waterfront hotel at Dubai Festival City and oversee the Al Badia 18-hole championship golf course, clubhouse and associated amenities.
"Four Seasons is the worldwide leader in luxury hospitality with an established presence in four Middle Eastern countries, said Omar Al Futtaim, CEO, Dubai Festival City.
"The brand is already regarded in the region as offering the finest personalised service and luxury accommodation. By selecting Dubai Festival City for its first venture into the UAE, Four Seasons is expressing its confidence in both the development and in the importance of Dubai as a global tourism destination.
"This confidence is also supports HH General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai's Crown Prince and UAE Defence Minister, vision to develop Dubai as an international tourism destination that's projected to cater for up to 15 million tourists by 2008."
Four Seasons Hotel Dubai will be located on the banks of Dubai Creek, adjacent to the Al Badia Golf Resort; offering magnificent views of the golf course on one side, and the waters of the Creek on the other.
With its waterfront location only two kilometres from Dubai's international airport and its proximity to Dubai's business hub, the hotel is expected to become one of the most important in the Four Seasons Middle East portfolio.
The design of the Hotel will be subject to intensive international competition, reflecting the superior standards for which Four Seasons is internationally recognised and the process to determine the architect will be highly competitive.
Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts is the second hospitality brand to announce its Dubai Festival City intentions. Construction is already underway for the InterContinental Hotel Dubai Festival City, a 600-room hotel and convention centre overlooking the Festival Centre; Dubai Festival City's retail, hospitality and entertainment destination.
Al Badia is the first golf course in the Four Seasons management portfolio in the Middle East and will be a unique addition to the 11 courses the company currently manages.
The distinctive course was designed by Robert Trent Jones II as a desert oasis with undulating terrain and several lakes, situated on the shores of Dubai Creek. The Al Badia course will enhance the emirate's reputation as a growing international golf destination.
