- PRESS RELEASE
Heidelberg, the world's leading printing technologies solutions provider, has invested more than AED3 million in the largest ever Middle East exhibition dedicated to its industry.
Gulf Print and Gulf Pack 2004 kicks off at Dubai Airport Expo from September 19-22, and around 270 companies from 25 countries will attend, making this year's printing and packaging showcase four times bigger than the 2003 event. Heidelberg is exhibiting for the first time at Gulf Print and Gulf Pack.
Zeid Al-Jehni, General Manager, Heidelberg Middle East FZCO, said: "The scale of our investment in this year's Gulf Print event reflects both our commitment to the regional market and our optimism for growth here in the Gulf and in nearby developing markets. Choosing to unveil groundbreaking Heidelberg products for the first time in Dubai is as clear a statement as it is possible to make about the significance, sophistication and potential of the Middle East and Asia markets."
Al-Jehni added: "Heidelberg has a proud 60-year history in the region, and the company will continue to introduce the latest technologies here. With Heidelberg machines in print shops across the GCC, the company's reputation for quality, value for money, safety and service is already well known."
For the first time, Heidelberg is set to unveil its latest breakthroughs in Pre-Press and Press printing technology in Dubai: the new Suprasetter S105 CtP and the Printmaster PM52. Working machines will be on display at Gulf Print and Gulf Pack 2004.
Attending today's press conference, Dr. Joachim Englisch, Managing Director, Heidelberg Gulf, said: "Heidelberg has believed in long-term planning for the Middle East since its entry in 2000, and the company's joint venture with the Juffali Group is a great boost. Heidelberg's participation in Gulf Print reflects its position as the market leader in sheet-fed technology. We're here to support the market and serve those important customers who were unable to meet us at other international exhibitions."
Commenting on the new Heidelberg products on show at Gulf Print and Gulf Pack 2004 in Dubai, Roger Nicodeme, General Manager - Sales, Heidelberg Gulf, said: "The Suprasetter S105 and the PM52 are ideal for the GCC market due to increasing demand for faster short runs and high quality A3 formats at competitive prices.
"The new Suprasetter range offers top versatility when it comes to plate handling, format coverage and punching. Numerous configurations are possible, from the four or eight page basic model to the Single Cassette Loader (SCL), and there is the fully automatic Multi Cassette Loader (MCL).
"The Suprasetters can process plate formats from all Heidelberg printing presses and those of many other well-known manufacturers. They also feature an internal punching system for fast, effective, register-accurate plate punching in the required form."
Nicodeme added: "The Printmaster PM52 maintains Heidelberg's leadership in the A3 format, offering excellent integration between Pre-Press and Press. The PM52 offers attractive automations like Press Control, Easyplate and laser-slit ink foundations. And customers can choose to add more options like Autoplate, Automatic Perfecting, Automatic Wash-up Device, and remote ink control via the Classic Center.
A delegation of more than 30 top regional and international suppliers and senior Heidelberg managers from the company's headquarters in Germany are attending the four-day Gulf Print and Gulf Pack exhibition, underlining its importance to the leading players in the Middle East print industry.
Heidelberg has nine branch offices in the Middle East and around 140 staff, half of whom specialise in customer service. The company provides a full portfolio of solutions, including Pre-Press, Press, Post-Press, workflow support, service, and training provided by Heidelberg's internationally recognised Print Media Academy. Customers include repro-houses, printing presses, publishers and government departments.
Gulf Print and Gulf Pack 2004 is open from 10:00am to 7:00pm from September 19-22 and as many as 10,000 visitors are expected, including visitors from emerging markets Iraq and Iran.

Product Information:
Suprasetter (Pre-Press)
The Suprasetter family of printers will be a main attraction at the Gulf Print exhibition in Dubai from September 19-22. Versatility is one of the hallmarks of the range, with a choice of configuration levels and easy, on-the-spot upgrades available.
Suprasetter gives you the option of manual, semi-automatic or automatic operation, even at the highest configuration levels with the interfaced Single Cassette Loader (SCL) and Multi-Cassette Loader (MCL). Unlike other CtP systems, a loader is fitted into the back of the Suprasetter, which leaves the plate shaft accessible for manual plate loading. In semi-automatic mode, the interfaced online processor takes the imaged plate and develops it automatically.
Full automatic production is an option with the Multi Cassette Loader, which can hold up to four cassettes, and these are selected automatically depending on the job space. The tried-and-tested Single Cassette Loader device delivers top performance and can send up to 400 sheets of paper to the collecting tray.
The Suprasetter's enormous capacity also allows for continuous operation for many hours without constantly refilling cassettes. And Heidelberg's Intelligent Diode System (IDS) means that operation can continue with no real drop in performance, even if a diode fails due to wear and tear.
Flexible, cost effective and simple to use, the Printmaster PM52 will impress visitors to Gulf Print with its many unique qualities. Offering high technology standards and value for money, the Printmaster PM52 is nicely positioned between Heidelberg's Printmaster GTO™ 52 and the Speedmaster™ SM 52.
This press handles a wide range of substrates, and the available models range from compact single-colour presses to five-colour machines with a precise suction-tape feeder.
It also comes with EasyPlateŽ quick-clamping systems with automatic positioning run, remotely adjustable circumferential and lateral register, and the ability to switch between standard and short-path inking mode to reproduce every motif. And you can order a press equipped with fully automatic sheet reversal for perfecting jobs.
Other features enhance the versatility of Heidelberg's new product, including optional ClassicCenter™ remote inking control, semi-automatic plate changing with AutoPlate™, inking unit temperature control, and a choice of practical accessories for inline production.
