- PRESS RELEASE
Honeywell (NYSE:HON) today introduced Honeywell I.O.N. (Integrated Operator Node), which allows customers to transform their TDC Universal Stations (US) into operator consoles with Experion Process Knowledge System (PKS) functionality.
I.O.N. updates the console from blinking cursor format, circa 1985, to the friendlier Windows format, allowing operators and process engineers to gain access to more information about plant processes and equipment functions and control them efficiently. This transformation can be performed in 15 minutes with minimal disruption to operations, without replacing any console furniture. I.O.N. allows customers to go from a proprietary system to the Experion PKS open-system operating environment.
"This new technology illustrates Honeywell's commitment to a migration path that delivers exceptional results to our customers quickly and affordably," said Jack Bolick, president of Honeywell Process Solutions. "With Honeywell I.O.N., customers can jump forward 20 years in a matter of minutes, improve operator effectiveness and enjoy many of the benefits of Experion. It allows customers to run their businesses using the latest migration technology with minimal disruption to control rooms and system operations."
Honeywell I.O.N. also gives customers the increased ability to react to external events and opportunities while improving maintenance effectiveness in an expedient, cost-effective way. It is an ideal solution for customers who want to take advantage of upgrading their systems without having to rewire or shut down their operations.
In addition to experiencing many of the capabilities of Experion, customers enjoy many other benefits by upgrading their systems, including:
• Simplified sourcing of future hardware replacement materials for US's.
• A platform for running advanced applications, such as the Operator Effectiveness Solutions suite of products.
• Consolidation of nodes, thanks to the replacement of multiple US's with a single station that has multiple displays.
Experion is a next-generation process automation system that unifies people with process, business and asset management to help process manufacturers increase profitability and productivity. It is the only process automation system to focus on people and the knowledge they hold. Experion improves customers' business performance and peace of mind by collecting and integrating process and business data across the entire enterprise, making information and knowledge available where and when needed, thereby enabling people to make the right decisions.
The result is increased plant uptime, reduced plant lifecycle costs, asset degradation avoidance, improved alarm system management, increased operational effectiveness and ensured safe production.
Experion also allows companies to realize the benefits of business investments such as enterprise resource management, through practical and effective integration of corporate and manufacturing goals.
