Al Jazeera Channel launches its mobile service in Yemen

Al Jazeera Channel, the first Arab satellite channel parallel to internationally renowned news and information providers, in association with Al Majaz Telecommunications, has tied up with Spacetel Telecommunications Company in Yemen to provide the latest news alerts and developments for Spacetel subscribers, all through Al Jazeera Mobile service.

The Chief Executive Officer of Al Majaz Telecom Technology Mr. Mohammad A. Al-Obaidly said that launching the service in Yemen was included in the plan made in order to cover the entire Arab world with news and with the latest technology to deliver this service to each individual who wishes to have the news.

"Al Jazeera Channel" launched "Al Jazeera Mobile" in association with "Al Majaz Telecommunications Technology" in October 2003, to provide this service through the Short Message Service (SMS) anywhere in the world. Spacetel is the seventh Telecom Operator in the region to offer Al Jazeera SMS service after its initial launch in Qatar last year.

Available through SMS, the service will provide Spacetel subscribers in Yemen, with breaking news, political news, and sports updates, ensuring they are kept informed at all times about recent developments regionally as well as globally.
