Tejari Online Marketplace now instantly available to mobile phone users
- United Arab Emirates: Saturday, September 25 - 2004 at 13:34
- PRESS RELEASE
Using GITEX 2004 as a platform, Tejari, the Middle East online marketplace, has launched Tejari Mobile, a wireless enabled service designed to give both Tejari members and the general public access to the online marketplace information through mobile phone devices.
From daily auction activities and the latest news from Tejari to new tendering opportunities, Tejari mobile users can access a diversity of information without connecting to the Internet through PCs.
"Tejari Mobile was created based on specific feedback from members about the need to stay connected to the marketplace while on the go. With practicality and convenience in mind, we have introduced the Tejari mobile service, which provides ease of access and navigation as well as a means of instantly capitalizing on new trading opportunities," said Saqib Iqbal, Chief Operations Officer (COO), Tejari.
The development of Tejari Mobile reflects the increasing penetration of mobile devices, especially phones and PDAs, throughout the Middle East region.
Another service accessible to existing Tejari member via Tejari Mobile is the 'My Tejari' portal. 'My Tejari' enables both buyers and suppliers trading on the marketplace to personalize their view of the trading community based on business preferences, and receive real-time updates on their online activities, including tenders and auctions, by SMS alert, e-mail, or fax.
"Current trading partners who utilize Tejari Mobile will also have access to My Tejari's powerful searching and reporting capabilities, enabling them to receive country-specific and industry-specific content via the marketplace on their mobile device. Whether they are touring GITEX or traveling, the combination of Tejari Mobile and 'My Tejari' offers decision-makers real business intelligence about new opportunities," added Iqbal.
LINKdotNET and Microsoft have again been chosen as the technology partners for Tejari Mobile, following their successful deployment of the 'My Tejari' portal during GITEX 2003.
"Our focus at GITEX remains on increasing our presence in the Gulf's flourishing trading markets. By enhancing our portfolio of services with initiatives like Tejari Mobile, Tejari is encouraging greater adoption of online procurement for both our existing trading partners and those in potential new markets," concluded Iqbal.
GITEX attendees can visit Tejari at stand C6-1 in Hall 6.
