ESMA and Emirates University discuss enhancing technical cooperation

The Emirates Standardization and Metrology Authority (ESMA) met with Emirates University officials to discuss ways of enhancing technical cooperation between the two institutions.
During the visit, Al Mansouri gave a full explanation of ESMA's role and responsibilities in terms of creating and developing new programs and systems of standardization, metrology and conformity in the UAE. He also discussed with the Emirates University officials key projects that ESMA is currently undertaking such as the Emirates National Accreditation System (ENAS) and the Emirates Conformity Assessment Systems (ECAS) of products and services.
Officials from the Emirates University noted the valuable role that ESMA is playing in supporting the domestic economy and confirmed their commitment to providing technical support to the Authority and its staff.

About the Emirates Standardization and Metrology Authority:ESMA executes the UAE standardization and metrology programme, which focuses on developing and promoting the application of standards in industry and products. It enforces the law to protect consumers by ensuring that consumer products are safe and their quality is standardized. Its mandate is to cover measurements related to length, mass, time and frequency, electromagnetic, temperature and radiometric and photometric quantities for all products in the UAE.
ESMA is a Federal UAE Authority, established by UAE Federal Law (28), 2001. It is an independent legal entity with an independent budget that constitutes a part of the UAE's national budget. It is globally recognized and ensures standards application and compliance in the UAE. The promise of product quality in the UAE will be the 'UAE CONFORMITY MARK' proposed by ESMA to make it in line with international standards. It is the only authority under the auspices of the Ministry of Finance and Industry that has five ministers on its board. ESMA reports directly to the UAE Minister of State for Finance and Industry.
