- PRESS RELEASE
This week The British University in Dubai welcomed its inaugural class of post-graduate students.
"We are extremely impressed by the high calibre of applicants, " said David J. Lock, Registrar and Acting Chief Executive. "It is a true reflection of the growing importance and value higher education has in this region. "The students that are joining us now will be our first graduates and they have a unique opportunity to shape the future of BUiD. They are a very impressive group of students who are all extremely well motivated and I know they will be a great credit to the University."
BUiD recently received accreditation eligibility from the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for all its Masters programmes and this has proved to be a key attraction for students. A further attraction is the opportunity that BUiD offers to earn a masters degree in Dubai which matches the standards and quality offered by its UK partner universities - The University of Edinburgh, The University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology and The University of Birmingham.
The University's academic staff are qualified research experts in their respective fields. All members of staff are expected to develop collaborative research thereby establishing the University and Dubai as a distinct research centre in the Gulf.
BUiD has already received a substantial number of applications for its next intake in January 2005.
