Sony 'Media Production' regional road show kick starts in Dubai

Sony Broadcast & Professional ME, a market leader in broadcast solutions, announced today that their Middle East & Africa 'Media Production' road show will kick-off on tomorrow 29th September in Dubai at the Ritz-Carlton.

As part of the informal two-day event (29th/30th September), Sony Business will have an extensive range of advanced AV/IT broadcast solutions on display for visitors to have a closer look. There will be visiting product specialists from the UK flown in especially for the occasion, to be on hand for any demonstrations or enquiries.

"The 'Media Production' road show reflects our commitment to share the experience with the broadcast and production community about our innovative digital solutions, that will substantially enhance and resolve a wide range of their media production requirements," said Nigel Thompson, Marketing Manager, A/V, Sony Broadcast & Professional ME. "We're bringing our digital and high-definition technology to our partners' and customers' doorstep demonstrating to them how total media solutions can transform their operational as well as business processes. The benefits of our advanced AV/IT production and workflow solutions are not restricted to broadcasters and prosumers as they can also be utilized by other industries to support their business communication needs."

As part of their wide-range of broadcast and workflow solutions, attendees will gain an insight into Sony's award winning Professional Disc (XDCAM) format which truly combines the AV and IT worlds to deliver significant improvements in terms of
"Workflow" and "Cost of Ownership". Another key theme will be High Definition, whereby the latest in HDCAM-SR tools will be on hand. This new format launched in

2003 offers greater storage capacity, higher data-transfer rates and more audio channels than any other comparable product on the market. "HDCAM has great appeal for non-compromise commercial production and movie-making applications, as well as cost-benefits that are difficult to ignore," said David Castle, Marketing Manager, A/V Production, Sony Broadcast & Professional ME.

Although not to be overshadowed by the above key technologies, Sony Broadcast & Professional ME will also be showcasing an 'A/V Network Production' environment that includes the revolutionary MPEG IMX e-VTR, and for news, regional TV and programme production applications, the 'DV Station' - all in one cost-effective system -demonstrating Sony's remarkable systems integration record and capabilities in the broadcast industry.

The new version of XPRI non-linear editing system - with its unique real-time HD capabilities boasts countless new features and refinements with enhanced real-time editing and collaborative workflow further widening XPRI's lead over rival systems - AnyCast Station, MediaWatch, Wireless Transmission Systems and Vision Switches will also take centre stage.

"Last but not least, we are really excited about the presence of the unique Sony HDV Professional system in the tour, a state-of-the art Sony technology which is yet to be launched globally.
