The LG Super-Multi DVD rewriter is compatible with three DVD formats, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/+RW and DVD RAM, and all CD formats. This is a global first since the international DVD Forum established its two main complementary standards, DVD-R/RW and DVD-RAM. Like any other LG models from the Super Multi family, the latest GSA-5120D has incredible DVD burn speed and can store up to 4.7 GB on 1 DVD-RAM, DVD-RW/R and DVD+RW/R discs.

The company is also updating its Flatron/LCD offerings and launching several new models in the region. "New generation designs and innovative product concepts will strengthen our regional monitor supply leadership. The latest additions to our I.T. product line-up, which boast integrated design concepts, will set new benchmarks for superior technology. The upgraded models are also aimed at penetrating niche markets. Increasing LCD demand will come from the large, high-end sector and through continuing regional I.T. and internet led growth," said P C Choi, President, LG Electronics Gulf FZE.

Plasma screen monitors in sizes 42", 50" and 60" inches will also be on display along with LG's award winning range of LCD TV monitors, many of which now feature optional TV tuners. Plasma Display Panels which can operate as monitors or TVs; LCD TVs, and LCD projectors; DVD Home Theatre systems; DVD combination units; slimline DVD players; MP3 players and different mobile phones will also be on show.

LG's tablet PC includes an LCD monitor with a digitiser that supports sophisticated graphic design and industrial design applications. LG monitors meet the needs of the most dynamic visual applications, combining versatility, multiple inputs and superior image quality.
The company is also unveiling its latest foray into the highly competitive notebook market, in the form of its new stylish LM, LS, LT and LU series notebooks. The new LG notebooks are the most portable on the market. Designed specifically for a mobile lifestyle, the sleek and easy-to-carry computers feature the latest Intel wireless connectivity, an impressive 10 hours battery life, and a thinner and lighter design. The new range of notebooks uses Intel Pentium M processors, and is equipped with the Windows XP operating system and Norton Anti-Virus 2004.

LG will back its cutting-edge notebooks and PCs by other exciting Gitex displays, which include state of the art mobile phones like the innovative Qiblah phone F7100. "These new phones will further expand an already successful LG mobile range," said Choi. "In just over a year, LG has become a serious competitor in the region's mobile market.

"Besides phones, we also look forward to introducing visitors to our new multi-drive optical storage devices, portable optical storage devices and five new monitors from our award-winning Flatron LCD range."

LG is currently the leading monitor and optical storage supplier throughout the Middle East and Africa, while the introduction of PCs and notebooks into the region rounded up its regional IT offering to cover every product segment.

"The new additions to the PC and notebook range will take us closer to reaching our aim of 20% regional market share by the end of next year. We want to grow LG's influence in the global mobile and display industries, while providing innovative technologies to customers around the world," explained Choi.
