MoFI partners eCompany at GITEX to display Federal government's e-services

The Ministry of Finance and Industry (MOFI) will be displaying its advanced e-services at GITEX 2004, the first time it has participated in the Middle East's premier IT exhibition.
Mosabah Al Suwaidi, Assistant Under Secretary for Administration and Information Systems at MoFI, said: "The Ministry is keen to participate in this event. It is all about the high tech business, an area the UAE Federal government is committed to.
"The federal authorities plan to use state-of-the-art technology an and now consider it an essential tool for all its operations. We need to keep abreast of the latest developments if we are to continue to drive the federal government to even higher levels of performance."
Al Suweidi added that the Ministry would take the opportunity of being at GITEX to exhibit e-services such as e-Purchase, e-Sinaee, and the e-Dirham system, in addition to the latest developments of the Federal e-Government.
The Ministry will be represented by a team of 13 officials from the Information Systems Department, Revenues Department, Industrial Development Department and Purchases. This team will receive visitors to the stand and explain the e-services offered by the Ministry.
Al Suweidi added that MoFI plans to participate in future GITEX exhibitions and will in future have a separate stand to display its newest services and developments within the Federal e-Government.
MoFI's participation within the eCompany offering is significant in the context of the recent Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry and Etisalat and signals the growing co-operation that was sought. The agreement, approved by the e-government higher committee, confirmed Etisalat as the partner responsible for implementing the technical part of the Federal e-Government.
