Dubai, September 28, 2004: Sony will showcase gaming titles at the `PlayStation Experience' in seven different zones - The Getaway: Black Monday, Sports, SingStar Throttle and Action, EyeToy: Play 2 zone and the Mixed Zone, bringing in a wide gamut of the gaming experience to consumers visiting the Experience. Another bonus for consumers is the exclusive preview of the new, reduced size PlayStation 2 console which is scheduled to be launched in the November in the Middle East.
Some of the software titles which visitors to the PlayStation Experience can get their hands on are:
Gran Turismo 4 (GT4): PlayStation 2's motor racing game, Gran Turismo, which has gamers all over the world rave about, has sold over 35 million copies globally. There is an infectious enthusiasm over this title among gamers, including in the Middle East, and GT4, the latest version which comes with a range of enhancements which will ensure a riveting experience to gamers. Compared to GT3, the earlier version, GT4 comes with the addition of an online mode allowing broadband users to compete against five other players around the world.
Killzone: Killzone is Sony's premiere first-person action game. Developed exclusively for PS2, Killzone pushes the PlayStation technology to its limits delivering a rich, story-driven combat experience of exceptional quality.
Set some time in the near future, Killzone sees a squad of four ISA troops struggling to repel an invasion from the deadly Helghast assault force.
Drawing from the finest war movies and best-known conflicts of our time, Killzone delivers an intense and dramatic recreation of traditional, man-to-man warfare.
As well as a narrative-rich first person campaign, Killzone will feature innovative multi-player options with full support for the PS2 Network Adaptor & Headset.
The Getaway: Black Monday: The ultimate in gangland game thriller, The Getaway: Black Monday which digitally replicates 25 square miles of London - full with cars and clogged roads. The game is a starkly interactive experience giving an authentic feel of the gangland in action. The game is a single story with two halves, shown from three unique perspectives, interwoven by a chain of events and twists that culminate in an explosive showdown with London's new gangland boss. Gamers will piece together parts of the story from these different perspectives while making critical decisions that influence the final outcome of the game. The title, which blurs the difference between movies and videogames, has a thrilling story line, intriguing characters, cinematic cut-scenes and an intense orchestral score.
EyeToy Play2: The `EyeToy Zone' will exclusively feature the latest title from SCEE's award-winning London studio, EyeToy: Play 2 which is a revolutionary upgrade on the EyeToy: Play, which has taken the Middle East markets by storm since its launch last year. EyeToy: Play 2 features SpyToy ™ enabling players to turn their EyeToy camera into a fun security system that will record anyone that passes by. EyeToy: Play 2 makes the games more interactive and comes with 12 new diverse games. Many of the new games also feature the `Sonic-Cam' audio recognition, adding another dimension to the gaming experience, allowing players to shout at the screen.
TIF 2005: PlayStation 2's hugely popular, 'This is Football', has a big fan following in the Middle East. TIF 2005 is the latest in the series developed by the gaming leader's London Studio, featuring an array of sophisticated game play. The new TIF 2005 uses new animations bringing in greater choice of moves and game play depth. There is also a larger selection of player heads, stadiums and licensed teams. TIF 2005 enables players to actually get on the pitch and play along side favorite football heroes - through using EyeToy: Cameo, which allows a player to take his/her own high-resolution pictures with an EyeToy USB camera and map them on to any player head in the game.
SingStar Party: This is the second installment of the song-oriented videogame. The new title which will support as many as eight players comes with an array of new features and fresh modes like the competitive `Duet Mode' which allows singers to sing separate parts of the same song to see who gets the highest score. The title also comes with a cross-disc compatibility with the original so that players can automatically upgrade their Party jukebox with tracks from the first edition of SingStar.
Other titles which will be showcased at the Experience are Sly 2 - A truly immersive and exciting adventure game that puts players into a world without boundaries, Ratchet & Clank 3 - the updated version which is the third installment in this series, Death by Degrees - The action adventure game featuring Nina Williams from the Tekken series comes with 360 degree combat system that allows a number of attack possibilities in all directions using analog sticks and the Jackie Chan Adventures - featuring the martial arts hero scouring the globe as an ancient artifact expert looking for talismans with his 11-year old niece Jade as his apprentice.
