eCompany EIM Mail Service implements solution to protect subscribers from spam for free

  • PRESS RELEASE

eCompany, Etisalat's one-stop e-powerhouse business unit that provides Internet services and total e-Business solutions, announced that it has implemented an effective anti-spam solution that will protect subscribers of its EIM Mail Service from the scourge of spam.

This solution is provided for free to subscribers and will filter spam at the server level itself, not allowing spam to enter the inbox of the user.

This implementation is in response to customer feedback and to the growing global threat from spammers who flood unsuspecting users with unwanted email, thereby causing serious losses in productivity and work efficiency. In many cases the problem is so acute that subscribers have given up the use of their e-mail accounts to avoid spam. The eCompany anti-spam solution should block up to 80 per cent of all spam mail that users are receiving currently.

Announcing the launch of the anti-spam solution, Mr. Abdulla Hashim, Senior Manager, eCompany, said: "Independent studies indicate that up to 80 per cent of all mail passing through the Internet is spam and this global scourge has also affected users in the UAE. eCompany rejected more than 3.75 billion attempted spam messages to its e-mail subscribers in 2003 and with the implementation of this anti-spam solution, we will contribute to significantly improving the e-mail experience of our subscribers."

An admirable feature of the anti-spam solution is that it removes spam at the network level, before it can reach the inbox of the subscribers. In keeping with the stringent eCompany EIM Mail Service privacy policy, users are given the choice to enable or disable the anti-spam solution. Enabling the solution will mean that all the spam that they receive will be stored in a separate spam folder for a period of 14 days.
...This gives the users the choice of checking the messages in the spam folder should they wish to. Subscribers can enable the anti-spam solution by visiting www.eim.ae/mail/antispam and signing in with their user name and password.

An auto delete feature that deletes spam received after 14 days from the Spam folder automatically has been incorporated in the solution. This will help to keep user accounts from reaching critical storage levels and the danger of new mail bouncing back is minimised.
For greater customer convenience, the eCompany help desk managed by skilled professionals has been set up by eCompany. The help desk is open to receive customer queries and respond to their complaints on a 24X7 basis.
