For the first time in the history of GITEX, the DIC Community Zone will anchor the sprawling Concourse 2, between Exhibition Halls 7 and 8. Spread over an area of 1158 sq. ft, the Zone will reflect the rapid growth of the DIC community, which has developed into a major international ICT cluster of over 650 Business Partners.
The DIC Community Zone will host 29 dynamic and innovative companies that offer leading-edge ICT products and services. The companies - Mayfair Consulting, Altitude Software, Comguard, Mena eSolutions, HansaWorld, VESTA Group, Gemplus, Ansari.net, Tranquil Solutions, Clicktivities, Helia, Comcave, Meta Group, Fumo Communications (Italia), Prima Java Softech, SYSTIMAX Solutions, B4ICT, SAGEM, Opennet, PeopleSoft, Madar Research, AMD, ASPGulf, IT People, Horizon Satellite Services, Nixu, M.E. Solutions, Naizak and ATI Technologies - represent a new breed of international and regional players that are enriching the market with cutting-edge products and services that address the changing needs of the region.
'Over the last four years, the Dubai Internet City community has been spearheading ICT industry development in the region and the companies here represent the highest levels of quality and innovation in the region's industry,' said Ahmad Bin Byat, Director General of the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone. 'At this year's GITEX, we are showcasing a wide cross-section of the DIC community that embodies its spirit and diversity,' he added.
The companies who are part of the Community Zone are a mix of global and regional players. They come from fields as diverse as consulting, security, software development, telecom, research, smart card manufacturing and chip manufacturing among many others.
Also participating in the Community Zone is Dubai Outsource Zone (DOZ), DIC's new initiative targeted at the outsourcing industry. DOZ is the world's first Free Zone dedicated to the outsourcing industry. It provides a comprehensive infrastructure and environment for offshore service providers to set up global or regional hubs servicing the worldwide market. A study conducted by a leading US-based consulting firm in 2003 ranked DOZ as potentially one of the world's three top offshore locations, judged on the potential of available people, environment and economy.
DIC's participation at GITEX marks the fourth anniversary of its operations. Over the last four years, DIC has developed into a community of over 650 companies. Leading companies in Dubai Internet City today include Microsoft, Oracle, HP, IBM, Dell, Siemens, Canon, Logica, EDS, Sony Ericsson, SAP and Cisco.
