Craig Barrett, the President and CEO of Intel was presented with a CPI/IDG global vision award for the company's commitment to education, by CPI's Editorial Director Dave Reeder, who visited Intel's HQ in Santa Clara, California, as part of the company's biannual Developer Forum.

"One of the reasons why we believe so strongly in education," said Barrett, "is that if you're going to have access to information, then you need the right processor. It's critically important, which is why Intel has chosen education as our extra-curricular activity. We thank CPI/IDG for this award and for supporting our objectives."

Dubai-based CPI's company motto is 'from global to local, from local to global', so CPI's CEO Dominic De Sousa sees these awards as linking the best in technology from the world with the best practice in the Middle East. "Certainly, we see - from outside the mainstream of the US-centric industry - the impact that IT can have and the way it can be used to cut through the barriers of colour or creed," he claims.

Other global visions awards have been given to industry-leading IT companies over the past few months to Microsoft for regional commitment and Sun Microsystems for standards-based innovation. More CPI/IDG global vision awards are planned.
