Al-Dabbagh briefs Italian delegation about investment climate

Amr A. Al-Dabbagh, Governor of the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA), yesterday received Italy's Vice Minister of Agriculture and Member of Parliament, Dr. Paolo Scarpa Bonazza Buora, and a delegation comprising government officials and businessmen.

Al-Dabbagh briefed the delegation about the country's investment environment, the Saudi Foreign Investment Law and other business laws securing the investors' rights.

Italy's Vice Minister of Agriculture and Member of Parliament, Dr. Paolo Scarpa Bonazza Buora, headed the delegation which included government officials, businessmen and journalists. Senior officials representing SAGIA's investment promotion, investor services, and policy affairs divisions attended the meeting to answer delegate's questions.

The Italian Vice Minister and the SAGIA Governor re-affirmed the Saudi-Italian bilateral investment relationship. They agreed that the countries' investment promotion agencies would facilitate more business exchanges that would lead to greater investments opportunities.

Dr. Buora said later that his mission was also aimed at preparing the groundwork for the visit of Italian Minister of Agriculture Dr. Giovanni Alemanno, scheduled for November 2004, which would strengthen Saudi-Italian relations in the agri-industrial sector, which plays an important role in the Italian economy.

Italian Ambassador Dr. Armando Sanguini said Italy was keen to strengthen the bilateral program with Saudi Arabia, particularly in water and irrigation, fishing and aquaculture systems, collaboration on safety issues related to agricultural mechanization and in pursuing common interests in the agri-industrial product sector.

In addition to the vice minister and the ambassador, the delegation included: Min. Plen. Raffaele De Lutio, Diplomatic Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture; Dr. Giuseppe Ambrosio, Head Department - Ministry of Agriculture; Dr. Claudio Teso, Head Secretary - Office of Undersecretary Scarpa Bonazza Buora; Dr. Aldo Di Biagio - project leader Buonitalia and Minister Advisor; Mr. Cristiano Lancianese - Office of the Minister; Mr. Tonino Mariani - company Bertani Baroc; Dr. Giuseppe Bartolucci - company Consistema Italia; Mrs. Angela Fioratti - company Consistema Italia; Mr. Michelangelo Rivoira - Rivoira Group Company; Mr. Massimo Toschi - Toschi Company; Mr. Vito Antonio Vitone - Vitone Company; Mr. Christian Mori - Sorma Company, Mr. Fortunato Caruana - Intrepreneur; Dr. Cesare Orlandini del Beccuto, SIMEST; Dr. Amedeo Scarpa, Italian Trade Commission's Director; Mr. Vincenzo Piegari, journalist, ANSA, Mrs, Angelica Fiore, journalist, RAI International; Mr. Giuseppe Ronca, cameraman, RAI International.
