- PRESS RELEASE
IBM is setting the scene for GITEX Computer Shopper with a range of retail promotions designed to offer users great deals on its innovative ThinkCentre desktops, as well as ThinkPad T-series and R-series range of mobile computers.
"With IBM's latest technology of ThinkPad T-Series, R-Series and ThinkCentres, incorporating ThinkVantage Technologies, IBM is focused on bringing innovation to the PC and notebook markets," said Imtiaz Ghani, regional manager personal computer division, IBM Middle East, Egypt and Pakistan. "Customers won't only be getting the latest industry standards specifications, IBM will provide them with technology features that allow advanced levels of computing with secure, wireless and easy to use mobile solutions.
As part of the promotion, IBM will be giving away ThinkPad carry cases to ThinkPad buyers at Computer Shopper, as well as a free memory stick for ThinkCentre buyers. New models of ThinkPad T Series and R-Series notebook computers, include models with the first 15-inch desktop PC-sized screens for the series - a new form factor complemented by award-winning ThinkVantage Technologies in wireless, security and PC management. Optimized for performance and portability, these new 15-inch models provide increased flexibility and comfort with larger, brighter and higher resolution screens.
Visitors will see the new IBM ThinkCentre S50 desktop that weighs a mere 6 kilograms. Companies in space-saving environments that also demand high-performance desktops, in fields such as finance and health care, will be able to take advantage of the small footprint of the S50 ultra small, about the size of a yellow pages directory or a typical box of breakfast cereal. With a size of 28cm wide by 26cm deep by 8.5cm high, the S50 effectively serves as a pedestal for a desktop monitor.
IBM is also offering the ThinkPad T42 at Computer Shopper; an ideal machine for global mobile users and business travelers that incorporates the IBM Rescue and Recovery Feature. In cases of virus attacks, software installation failures or operating system corruption, users can press the blue button on their IBM ThinkPads and a 'toolkit' with system information, diagnostics and recovery options will rescue and save the data.
