- PRESS RELEASE
HP has announced that the company, along with Audiviz Technologies , a business partner in the UAE, has signed a major deal to equip the Dubai Men's College (Higher College of Technology) with 85 HP xp8010 digital projectors.
"We are constantly looking at ways to utilise technology to improve our methods of teaching," said Dr. Bill Vega, Director, HCT, Dubai Men's College, "and we see the installation of 85 high specification HP projectors as a major milestone in our move to provide sophisticated technology such as video on demand services to our students. The HP proposal offered all of the criteria that we required at a very competitive price."
The primary users of the newly installed projectors will be the teaching faculty who will connect to the system via a mixture of traditional audio visual technologies and computers. The system operates on a network allowing both wired and wireless access to the projectors and is controlled by a central administrator who can operate any individual projector on the network.
"Dubai Men's College went through a rigorous process to ensure that they had the right product in terms of function, features and reliability to carry out this vital task," said Amr Hassan, General Manager, HP Imaging and Printing Group (IPG), Middle East. "When you consider that this is about delivering course content to students day-in- day-out there is no room for error. With the HP xp8010 not only do they have a product that meets their existing needs but also allows the HCT to develop and deliver new applications in the future. This was another key factor in their decision to opt for HP. Both students and staff will, I'm sure, discover that we live up to our promise that 'with HP everything is possible."
One of the applications that HCT is examining at the moment is the facility to deliver live or interactive content between locations on the campus and as the system matures to other locations outside the campus.
"We needed a system that was not only feature rich but also was easily accessible to users and required a minimum of training for the users," said Paul Herspiegel, Broadcast Engineer, HCT, Dubai Men's College. "The HP 8010, while delivering in terms of features, is a straightforward product to use."
The solution was designed, supplied and commissioned by a team of in-house engineers and audio visual technicians from Audiviz Technologies technologies, a company specialising in the implementation of classroom and total audio visual solutions.
"This is a very significant project for us," said Manoj Pillai, General Manager, Audiviz Technologies Technologies. "We have worked very effectively both with HCT as well as HP to deliver a solution that sets a new benchmark for classroom solutions in the region."
