Tejari extends international reach with Emirates Group
- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, October 03 - 2004 at 11:54
- PRESS RELEASE
Emirates Group and Tejari, the Middle East online marketplace, have deepened their relationship with an important new agreement.
In addition to widening its global procurement reach through Tejari, the Emirates Group's technology division, Mercator, has completed the first of two phases of the integration of Oracle-based procurement software with the Tejari marketplace
Emirates Group has been a Tejari trading partner for more than three years, sourcing goods and services at competitive prices for most of its divisions, from air cargo to catering and technology. As part of the new agreement, Emirates has fully integrated Tejari into its procurement processes and Tejari will become the preferred channel for any supplier wishing to bid online for Emirates Group business.
This level of integration between the two software systems more fully automates Emirates' buying processes by routinely generating purchase orders and online auctions to replenish inventories as needed. The integration initiative further reduces Emirates' operating costs by reducing the need for staff intervention and paper-based administration.
"Tejari membership has already streamlined our procurement processes and delivered measurable efficiency benefits and cost savings," says Saeed Mohammed, Vice President, Procurement & Logistics, Emirates Group. "Now we are looking to replicate those benefits across our global operations, and with more than 1200 companies acting as Emirates' suppliers, we anticipate significant further reductions in procurement time and related costs."
"For a group like Emirates to make Tejari one of its primary channels for international procurement is a ringing endorsement," said Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi, Tejari's CEO. "Tejari's new contract with Emirates will project us further onto the international stage, and demonstrates that online procurement is not just a country-specific or regional opportunity for Middle East-based businesses."
"A number of Tejari's trading partners have successfully integrated their back-office purchasing systems with the marketplace, but the Emirates project, managed by Mercator, has been the largest and most ambitious thus far. Both the memorandum of understanding to extend Emirates' global purchasing agreements via Tejari and the IT integration project highlight the value that online procurement delivers to some of the Middle East's most prominent brands," concluded Sheikha Lubna.
GITEX attendees can visit Tejari at stand C6-1 in Hall 6.
