- PRESS RELEASE
Dubai Municipality has started two special bus routes to enable the Dubai residents to visit the Middle East's largest IT show, GITEX 2004, offering a hassle-free ride to the show's venue at Dubai Airport Expo.
The first service, Route No.100 plies between Gold Souq Bus Station and Dubai Airport Expo, while the second service, Route No.101 is operating between Al Ghubaibah Bus station and Dubai Airport Expo.
The buses originating from Gold Souq pass through Deira Taxi Station before reaching the GITEX venue. The fare for a one-way trip is Dhs1.50. This service will start at 2.15pm and the last bus from Airport Expo will leave at 10.05pm.
The buses starting from Al Ghubaibah Bus station run through Al Karama before reaching the GITEX venue. The fare for a one-way trip on this route is Dhs2.50. This service will start at 2pm and the last bus from Airport Expo will leave at 10.20pm.
"The objective of introducing these special services is to offer the GITEX visitors a cheap and hassle-free journey. Besides, it will also reduce traffic congestion on the roads leading to the venue and offer a solution to the parking problem," said Mr. Malik.
He added that the decision to operate these services this year was taken following the success of similar services during the last GITEX and Dubai Shopping Festival, thereby contributing remarkably to reducing the traffic congestion at one of the major festival attractions, the Global Village.
"In future, we plan to repeat this exercise at all major events that may happen in Dubai," Mr. Malik noted.
