LG showcases innovative mobile solutions

To meet growing regional demand from business and consumer users for the latest mobile computing technology, LG Electronics unveiled its new ultra-slim notebook series that offer more power and extended battery life at Gitex today.

The LM, LS, LT and LU series of notebooks, powered by Intel's wireless connectivity, make it easier for users to access information anywhere, any time. The sleek computers feature the latest Intel wireless connectivity, an impressive 10 hours battery life, and are equipped with the Windows XP operating system and Norton Anti-Virus 2004. The new offerings are set to further accelerate LG's market leadership, as reported by the latest industry results that establish the company as one of the leading brands in the Middle East.

"Released simultaneously, LG's new notebooks are designed to appeal to a range of users who seek mobile connectivity, extra functionality and superior performance. With the LM series, LG delivers a revolutionary compact size among 15" models, long battery life up to ten hours, efficient wireless access capability and compatibility with the LG home theatre systems," said P C Choi, President LG Electronics Gulf FZE.

The LS series offer DVD recording capabilities, high brightness and a wide viewing angle LCD screen, high power stereo speakers and ultra fast performance in terms of quality of output. The tablet notebook for mobile professionals, the LT series combines stylish design features with ergonomics, a convenient digital pen and weighs a mere 1.75 kilogrammes.

The series signal the increasing popularity of a new international trend, with its choice of DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo drive, DVD-R/RW or DVD Super-Multi drive options, making it a comprehensive digital entertainment centre. Users can expect to move seamlessly from making audio CDs, to copying data DVDs, or even, creating their own DVDs, all with a few clicks and within a familiar user interface environment.

The notebooks deliver a rich multimedia experience and symbolise best computing performance for the consumer on-the-go, making it suitable for wireless work, work or play. Like all LG mobiles, the notebooks carry the company's unique three-year international warranty across all models.

Announcing the details, Choi said the new notebook series were a timely response to increasing market demands for advanced functionality.

"LG continues to deliver sturdy, sleek and powerful business tools that allow computer users to make a seamless transition to a more mobile and productive work environment. The new notebooks are both designed to address a variety of users and can be used just as easily for mobile work, homework, Internet access or e-mail, while also supporting versatile PC entertainment options such as making home DVDs and online gaming. No other notebooks offer such an impressive combination of power and performance so cost-effectively," explained Choi.

Combined sales for LG notebooks and PCs for the first half of 2004 in the Middle East and Africa were around US $ 10 million.

"Our product range continues to be forerunners of mobile computing technology. LG notebooks won two Editor Choice awards in 2004. The LS 50 bagged the award from PC magazine and the LT 20 model has been awarded by Windows Middle East. Working with our dedicated channel network we foresee even more growth in the immediate future," said Choi.
