The new PC cards move mobile communication into a new era of virtually no speed and capacity problems. This means for office workers that they can work from out of the office without compromising. It's total freedom, total control!

The credit-card size wireless PC cards provide access to email, Internet, and corporate intranets wherever and whenever mobile professionals may be. PC Cards slot neatly into the side of laptops and provide instant data access via mobile networks that now cover every corner of the world. Laptop users can now be as globally mobile as ever possible.

"The future of office work will be revolutionized by wireless tools that will change the face of offices and give workers the freedom to be productive wherever and whenever they choose," said Husni Al Assi General Manager of Sony Ericsson Middle East and Africa. "Our PC Cards come in response to this change. They are a fast and reliable global wireless communication tool."

Global PC card users can always stay connected via their laptops and their mobile phones remain free for voice calls at all times. The PC cards fit any laptop with a Type II PC card slot running Windows 98SE, 2000, Me, NT4.0 or XP. They are easy to install and compatible with all familiar software applications (MS Outlook, MS Exchange, Messenger, Netscape, etc.).

The powerful yet discrete GC75e offers data speeds similar to that of fixed-line modems. The triple band GPRS PC Card Modem is the key to mobile connectivity. It is the essential traveling tool, providing online access in all 5 continents using GPRS, HSCSD or CSD. No matter where you are you will never be out of reach.

GC79 is the world's first combined tri-band GPRS and Wi-Fi PC card. The combo features of the GC79 PC Card give you the best of two worlds with global access with GPRS/HSCSD and fast local connection with Wi-Fi (up to 11 MB). Office workers on the move can have fast internet connections at hotspot locations such as airport lounges, coffee shops or hotels. The GC79 is based on the most widely used Wi-Fi standard - 802.11b. The GC79 is Wi-Fi certified and supports EAP-SIM authentication .

Boasting the GC79 Al Assi said, "Sony Ericsson recognizes the explosive growth of Wi-Fi and is providing consumers with a flexible and mobile solution today that guarantees they work smarter not harder."

Sony Ericsson has a leadership position in EDGE PC Cards. Sony Ericsson successfully launched the world's first EDGE PC Card (GC82) in December 2003. Even before competitors got their first wave of EDGE PC Cards out of the door, Sony Ericsson had launched its second (GC83) and third (GC85) EDGE PC Cards in the market. Sony Ericsson PC Cards are based on proven and robust EDGE technology.

With the launch of the GC85 EDGE PC Card, office workers from Middle East and Africa can now enjoy a 3G technology data card that delivers broadband-like speeds over GSM networks - average data speed of 130 kbps with burst up to 247 kbps. Mobile users will be able to enjoy high-speed internet services and e-mail access. Large e-mail attachments can be downloaded quickly and easily, making mobile working a practical reality. The GC85 card also provides global coverage because EDGE is deployed by over 100 operators in 64 countries around the world. Where there are no EDGE networks available, mobile workers will continue to have seamless and global online connectivity via the widely abundant GPRS technology.

Marking the launch of the PC Cards Sony Ericsson commissioned several research reports that find a rise in mobile professionals who require greater mobility to work when and where they wish.

Sony Ericsson research findings provide glimpses into the future; the future of a truly mobile workforce that works faster and smarter. Wi-Fi hotspots providing high-speed data access will spread to public places and mobile workers will be seen downloading emails on trains, at coffee shops, and in taxis. Professionals will be more productive with time to spare for peace of mind.

One research commissioned from London Business School, Business Life 2020, predicts that in 2020 offices will be more like social lounges or Friends-style coffee shops where professionals will go only to hold meetings or socialize.

Other research finds the drivers behind the rise of wireless tools to be the rise of the "eWorker" who uses the tools and the benefits of freedom from desks, from commuting to offices, and from returning to over-flooded email inboxes at the workplace. This freedom to work from anywhere will increase job satisfaction, morale, as well as staff loyalty and retention.

Regardless of the office worker's physical location, he/she will always feel empowered with one of Sony Ericsson's PC cards. Sony Ericsson's revolutionary PC Cards make mobile working work.
