Samsung to launch PDA phones by 2004 end in Middle East

Samsung Electronics, the regional and global leader in digital technology has announced plans to launch its PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) phone, SGH-i700, in Middle East by the end of 2004.
"As a digital convergence leader, Samsung is always pushing the boundaries of product versatility and design. Samsung's PDA phone is a reaffirmation of the lead Samsung has in the mobile phone industry and reiterates our commitment to differentiate products by incorporating innovative design and technology elements that deliver tangible benefits to customers in Middle East," said Mr. Sandeep Saihgal, Sales and Marketing Manager, Samsung Gulf Electronics.
SGH-i700, Samsung's PDA phone is a mobile intelligent terminal built around the Pocket PC Phone Edition operating system from Microsoft. It includes Pocket Office for business needs, Windows Media Player for multimedia file playback and MSN Messenger for text messaging. The device includes a built-in VGA camera with a rotating lens to enable sharing of images with friends and colleagues.
"Furthermore, Samsung will continue to reiterate its leadership position by strengthening the line-up of clamshell and slide-up design mobile phones," Mr. Saihgal added. In addition to PDA phones, the other state-of-the-art mobile phones Samsung is showcasing in GITEX are:
SGH-P730: an optional swivelling clamshell phone equipped with a built-in one- megapixel camera and an MP3 player
SGH-E810: capable of 30-second video clips in M-JPEG format and features a 180-degree rotating VGA/CMOS camera with video and flash
SGH-E630: a stylishly colourful phone powered with a VGA camera, polyphonic ring-tones and features like voice recorder and CLI (Call Line Identification) in phonebook
SPH-S2300: a 3-megapixel CDMA camera phone, at par with digital camera in resolution
SGH-Z107: a fashion-forward 3G-handset for real-time video telephony and video streaming, the phone features a built-in, rotating digital camera, a high-quality TFT colour screen displaying 262,144 different colours and 40-polyphonic ring tones
