The deal was signed in Dubai GITEX 2004 expo between Mr. Essa Mohammed Al Zadjali, Chairman, Times of Oman & Al Shabiba Newspapers and Mr. Sanjiv Gupta, CEO, Bodhtree Consulting Limited, in the presence of Dr. J.C. Mohanty, Prinicipal Secretary to Government of Andhra Pradesh (Information Technology and Communications Department) and Capt C K Veeresh, Joint Director Information Technology and Communications Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh. Also, present were Mohamed Issa Al Zadjali, Director General, Royal Court Affairs, Sultanate of Oman, Abdulmalik Albalushi, IT Director, Government of Oman and David Lim of Dubai World Trade Centre.
Times of Oman and Al Shabiba are the oldest Omani Newspapers in Sultanate and will be the first newspapers in the Sultanate of Oman to go live as ePapers. 'The ready-to-deploy and feature-rich solution provided by Bodhtree, Hyderabad helped us go live quickly and effortlessly. By implementing Bodhtree's solution the ePaper version of our newspapers will not only offer convenience and pleasure of reading their favorite newspaper for our online readers, but will also help us add more revenue streams by way of subscriptions and advertisements.' Ahmed Essa Al-Zadjali, CEO, Times of Oman.
Bodhtree's ePaper publishing solution is a highly automated product and comes bundled with the necessary tools to convert pre-press news pages of Quark, PageMaker, In-Page or other editorial software to ePaper format in a short duration using minimal resources. This enables newspapers to cost effectively publish the ePaper online much before the print edition goes out on the street.
'By implementing our solution, large or even medium-sized newspapers will be able to realize ROI from their ePaper investment in a very short period. It provides several revenue-generating options to publishers to increase online subscriptions to international and traveling subscribers and extend innovative, patent-pending advertisement options to their business partners and advertisers.' Sanjiv Gupta, CEO of Bodhtree said, and 'We are excited in inking this deal with Times of Oman and Al Shabiba as it endorses our ePaper solution capabilities and its growing acceptance that enable our customers to expand their business revenues and build customer values consistently' he concluded.
Bodhtree demonstrated the capability of its ePaper publishing solution at the recently held International Association for Media Publishing (IFRA) India Expo 2004 at Hyderabad, India. The ePaper solution drew considerable interest from the participants and visiting delegates for its feature-rich capabilities and fast-to-deploy expertise. The solution is currently used by some of the leading newspaper groups in India such as the Hindustan Times, The Deccan Chronicle, Lokmat and Westender from Australia and other prominent newspaper groups.
The Times of Oman and Al Shabiba are the first newspapers in the Middle East that will deploy BodhTree's solution.
With Bodhtree's ePaper, publisher's online subscribers can access the publication using a regular web browser without any additional downloads. The technology offers highly advanced content search options and navigation between the pages of a day's edition, to previous day's editions, and even to other editions of the publication including 'click-to-open' feature to open an article, advertisement or a photograph on the page, in print or text views. The auto-archival feature enables the previous day's editions to automatically get archived and made available to online subscribers as per the publisher's business model. 'Click-to-listen' feature using on-the-fly text-to-speech technology allows subscribers to listen to the audio of news articles, especially benefiting visually impaired subscribers with faint vision and mobile users who can be offered streaming audio news over wireless phones.
The company expects such deals will help Bodhtree expand its global customer base continuously and rapidly.
