Efonica launches new line of VoIP @ GITEX Dubai 2004

  • United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, October 05 - 2004 at 09:10
  • PRESS RELEASE

Efonica, a global Internet telephony company, has GITEX visitors trying out their free 'Efonica technology' phone calls to any number worldwide.

This new line of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) application hardware was launched today at GITEX Dubai 2004, attracting numerous visitors to their stand.

"The first day of GITEX 2004 has already proven more successful than GITEX 2003 for us," said Marwan Khadij, Efonica Business Development Manager. "Visitors are pleased that they have the opportunity to physically test the quality of the phone lines abroad and we are pleased that potential customers can witness that our internet telephony is as good as a regular telephone."

Efonica's telephony product range includes PC-to-Phone, Phone-to-Phone, and private and corporate VoIP applications; as well as hardware solutions varying from PC related to stand-alone and dial-up to broadband solutions. With the company's target market ranging from residential to corporate end-users, small to medium businesses, and from ISPs to telecommunication providers, GITEX 2004 is the ideal platform to increase Efonica's regional presence.

Efonica is using its stand in hall 6 to demonstrate the clarity of calls possible with the new VoIP products. Khadij commented, "We want customers to hear the difference".

When VoIP first came to the market, there were calls that the quality was not as clear as traditional telephone lines. Speaking from GITEX, Khadij said, "Those days are now over. You can speak to someone on the other side of the world with an Efonica VoIP call and it will sound like they are standing right next to you. Of course the difference is that it will cost a fraction of a traditional phone call - with calls to many countries at only $ 0.039 US per minute".

According to new data from IDATE, by 2009 corporate voice over IP and telephony over IP (VoIP and ToIP) will account for 40% of business telephone lines, or 180 million lines. IDATE predicts that IP business calls will exceed 50% of all business traffic by 2010. Khadij said, "We are in a rapid Internet adoption rate across the whole of the Middle East region - if VoIP offers clear calls at a fraction of the cost why would we not see a massive increase in numbers of users?"
