- PRESS RELEASE
During the GITEX 2004 exhibition, Tejari, the Middle East online marketplace, is recognizing leading organisations in the region for the commitment they have demonstrated to the adoption of online procurement.
Sheikha Lubna Al-Qasimi, Tejari's CEO, is personally presenting the awards throughout the five-day exhibition.
"Middle East-based organizations have proved wholly receptive to Tejari and each of these organisations has in some measurable way contributed to making Tejari the region's online business leader. These awards are a tangible way of honouring companies for advancing the online procurement model and the use of technology to improve efficiency, cost-cutting and transparency in trading," said Sheikha Lubna.
The first award conferred by Tejari during GITEX 2004 recognized Dubai Electricity and Water Authority for being the marketplace's most committed buyer. Dubai Municipality was presented with an award for running the most successful supplier's adoption campaign.
At this year's ceremony, Dubai Civil Aviation was awarded for conducting the highest number and value of awarded auctions. Arab Bank in the UAE was recognized as the most committed buyer among the private sector companies trading on the Tejari marketplace.
A new category introduced this year was 'Most Active Regional Buyer,' highlighting Tejari's steady growth into other markets in the Middle East. This award went to Al Kharafi National, which created the highest number of buyer auctions on the Tejari marketplace based on data obtained from the marketplace as well as the experience of Tejari's international business department. Consideration for this award category was given to trading members in various countries including Kuwait, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria.
Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) took home an award during GITEX for creating the highest number of online purchase orders and overall supplier enablement. Tejari also honoured Jordan Kuwaiti Bank for having the greatest number of international suppliers trading on the marketplace.
The private sector also saw a number of winners. The 'Most Committed Supplier' award went to Jumbo Electronics and Super Stationery carried off the 'Most Active Supplier' award.
Tejari's best technology partner, a popular award category that saw many organisations in the running, was won by Link Dot Net, and Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group was recognized for having the most active group of companies.
Shaikha Lubna commended for all of the Tejari award recipients, concluding, "These awards honor those trading partners that made extraordinary efforts in the area of online procurement, but organisations that have experienced the cost-savings and improved efficiency that Tejari membership delivers are ultimately all winners."
During GITEX, attendees can visit Tejari at stand C6-1 in Hall 6, where the online marketplace has been highlighting its expanded presence in the region and announcing the forging of new partnerships in the Gulf.
