Etisalat empowers mobile phones with a range of video options
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, October 05 - 2004 at 16:16
- PRESS RELEASE
Emirates Telecommunications Corporation (Etisalat) has announced the imminent launch of a slew of applications to convert mobile phones into utility and fun equipment with astounding video possibilities.
Mohammed Al Fahim, Executive Vice President- Marketing, Etisalat, said: "The new services for 3G subscribers in the UAE offer tremendous possibilities and should be hugely popular. We are confident people will benefit from these services, whether its for fun or for serious business. We try to ensure that the best and latest in technology and applications are available to all our subscribers."
With the power unleashed by technology for people to be in different places yet stay in touch, the introduction of video conferencing on mobile phones will definitely be seized on by business executives. The service allows users to stay in touch for all business needs, and even get visual confirmations and approvals.
For personal use too, this service is unmatched and offers the added convenience of pictures. This facility will be available between mobiles and even between mobile phones and suitably enabled fixed-line telephones.
The Video ring-back tone allows subscribers to save video clips against their phone book entries, so that a stored video alerts the user to an incoming call from the corresponding entry in the phone book. Now subscribers with suitably-enabled phones need not use the ringing tones in their phones, but can use their own choice of video to be alerted to incoming calls.
Magazines and news clips can soon be seen on a mobile phone screen, much in the same way as a normal video. This would enable the person to subscribe to magazines that would stream content directly to his or her mobile where they can can view, zoom, read and enjoy what is available
With a video-mail box, there is no longer any excuse for missing a video call. Callers can leave the usual voice message or a video clip. The caller could record himself or herself speaking, or even creatively show other images that serve to illustrate the message in a more imaginative way.
